Looking Forward to the 2023 AANP National Conference

The American Association of Nurse Practitioners® (AANP) is coming to New Orleans for the largest nurse practitioner (NP) event of the year – and NP Advantage will be there! From June 20-June 25 attendees from all over the country will gather “for a week filled with continuing education (CE), exclusive keynote speakers, legislative and policy updates, hands-on workshops, lively exhibitors and unparalleled collegial networking opportunities.”

This year’s theme is “Restoring, Recharging and Renewing the Nurse Practitioner Community” and our own Brandy Lawson and Taylon Wait are excited to represent NP Advantage. We recently asked them what they are most looking forward to at the conference.

According to Brandy, she is interested in hearing more innovative ideas from the NP attendees. She recalled that at last year’s conference, she met a trio who were planning to open a clinic together.

“It was three NP’s and one of them was going to do primary care, one was specializing in pediatrics and the other in women’s health,” Brandy stated.

She added, “I enjoy hearing those outside the box stories and how NPs are going to make things work for themselves – I look forward to hearing more of those stories at this year’s event.”

Brandy and Taylon also anticipate plenty of buzz about legislation supporting NP autonomy.

“Yes, I think that will continue to be a hot topic. When they had any sessions last year that were specific to entrepreneurship or state legislations that were becoming more open it would sound like a stampede coming towards our area as soon as the doors opened – it just sparked so much excitement,” Brandy recalled.

For Taylon, the conference represents an opportunity to network with and share more about how NP Advantage supports independent nurse practitioners.

“NPs just want to be able to focus on patient care. A common theme that I hear is how much they like NP Advantage because we take on so much of the business burden associated with running an independent practice.”

“NPs are excited when they learn that kind of full support is available – so that if they want to spend 25 minutes with a patient instead of 10, they have the freedom to do so,” he added.

We are looking forward to joining discussions at the 2023 AANP Conference on national, state and local legislative, regulatory and practice issues affecting NPs – and we’d love to speak with you too!
